Tackle Overwhelm With Triage

In a busy and overwhelming world - let’s do simplicity.
— Wendy Tomlinson

I know firsthand the delicate balancing act of running a business while taking care of a family. It's an organised chaos that often leaves us feeling overwhelmed and pulled in so many different directions.

Today I want to share with you a powerful tool 2 step activity from my time and task management toolbox: Overwhelm Triage.

You feel like you're to-do list is as long as your arm, you have deadlines looming and the house still needs sorting - can you say doom pile?!

It's easy to feel like you're losing control - but this is where Overwhelm Triage can efficiently save the day...and some of your sanity!

Step 1: The Brain Dump - Grab a pen and paper (or your favourite note-taking app) and get everything out of your head. From client calls and deadlines to grocery lists and laundry, get it all down in one place. With it out of your head, you will immediately begin to feel lighter as you realise nothing will now be forgotten.

Step 2: Do, Win, Delegate - Now I want you to group your tasks into three categories (feel free to get out the fun coloured pens for this one!):

  1. Do: These are the tasks that need your attention within the next 1-24 hours. Think of them as your top priorities - the fires that need extinguishing ASAP and literally cannot wait

  2. Win: These tasks are your quick wins that will not only have an impact on your list but also provides evidence to your brain that you are getting lots done! They're easy to tackle and can provide an instant sense of achievement.

  3. Delegate: This one is the hardest...identify tasks that can be delegated to others or shared with your team or family. Remember, you don't have to do it all alone. Trust in your support network and empower others to lighten your load. I know asking for help can be uncomfortable but when stuck in overwhelm, you need it!

By following this simple two-step process, you'll regain a sense of control and free up valuable time to focus on what truly matters. You will actually get things done rather than just stressing about it.

You're a passionate and heart-led business owner, an expert in your field and while overwhelm may sneak up on us from time to time, with the right tools and mindset, we can manage it together.

Stay positive, stay focused, and remember to celebrate the small victories along the way. You've got this!
